The Crew

Since Tim and I do most of the photos for this website and the catering company and we both seem to have an aversion to taking photos of people, i decided to pull up a couple of photos of our catering company and people who help out. The first picture is of the crew after a wedding this summer, it was a pretty tough one as you can tell from the photos. The second picture is from the dinner we did at Fountain Prairie last spring. I like it quite a bit.

Market Breakfast at the Dane County Farmers Market

Underground Catering is doing the breakfasts at the Winter Market again. This is one of our favorite things to do as we get to work with vendors at the Winter Market who take great dilagence in creating quality food for people who come to the Market. Ben, Mary and Shamus have been left with most of the work while I'm traveling around Barcelona doing research for future catering. The menus are updated weekly and hopefully we will provide some insider info from this blog. Here is the information for the Market.

Winter Dinner at Fountain Prairie Farm

Following up on our Spring dinner, we will be returning to the home of John and Dorothy Priske for a six course tasting menu. Our meal will feature John and Dorothy's Fountain Prairie Farm Highland Beef and produce grown throughout Wisconsin this winter. Our aim in doing these dinners is to share our passion for local food in a small space that allows us to develop creative culinary ideas.

The cost is fifty dollars.

John and Dorothy's Farm is also an Inn; if you wish to stay on the night of the dinner, we suggest you make reservations soon. For more information about staying at Fountain Prairie Farm, please see: www.fountainprairie.com

Pictures from Dinner at Fountain Prairie Farms

It seems like the dinner at Fountain Prairie Farm was quite the success. I was amazed by how well everything turned out and the atmosphere was perfect. A huge thank you to John and Dorothy Priske who made the evening quite pleasant and thank you to everyone who decided to come to the dinner. We had such good feedback that we have decided to do these dinners again through the summer, fall and winter. Check the website for more information about future events.

Tim and I decided to take pictures at the event and hopefully Mark Dohm will pass on his pics to us. Here are the links. Please excuse the pictures of Shamus and I wearing the ridiculous chef hats, the priskes seemed to have an extra available in the kitchen.

If you were at the dinner please leave comments about the meal.

The Last Farmers Market Breakfast

[img_assist|nid=53|title=The Crew|desc=Here's a picture of some of us at the farmer's market today. We got kind of a kick out of the bison farmer Leroy (in the middle) saying all those mean things about people who didn't want to eat his product.|link=none|align=left|width=560|height=420]So this Saturday we are fulfilling our duties to the DCFM and cooking one last breakfast at the Winter Market. We are excited about finishing up and moving on to different things. I think everyone would agree that the Market Breakfast has been one of the most successful things we have done as a catering company and the community of the Winter Market Vendors has been wonderful to us.

From the esteemed Food Writer Terese Allen

"A big, joyful salute to the feel-good food and gonzo cooks of Underground Catering. These folks get it right: local, seasonal and utterly delicious fare that's eater-, grower- and earth-friendly. I love the way they balance casual and classy, conviction and creativity. They're fearless in the kitchen, personable in the dining room and generous in the community. When Underground is cooking, I'm very happy to be at the table."
